He served as a councilman in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, the largest municipality in Morris County, for seven (7) years. In 2010, he was elected mayor of Parsippany where he served for eight (8) years. As Parsippany’s chief executive officer, Mayor Barberio gained a strong background in township management, budgets and financial planning. With more than fifteen years of experience in municipal government and public service, he has proven himself to be a self-motivated professional with excellent interpersonal skills. With an innate ability to perform well in high pressure, challenging and deadline-driven environments, Mayor Barberio has developed a firm reputation for being a strong, pro-active leader.

He has been asked on several occasions to speak on panels to share his experience with various groups regarding economic development and his practical hands-on approach for business development.

A graduate of Parsippany Hills High School, Mayor Barberio attended Montclair State University and worked in the financial field as a controller in the private sector with a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Quickbooks and Sage. Equally skilled in all aspects of social media, Mayor Barberio can easily navigate Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. He is in the process of completing his certification to become a Certified Public Manager (CPM) administered by Rutgers University and the State of New Jersey Civil Service Commission.
